A Mexican lesson!

In Mexico City, I stopped to watch a man at a street cart expertly slice mango, watermelon, and cucumber into perfect spears. He tossed them with a squeeze of lime, a pinch of salt, and a sprinkle of chili powder. It was the kind of snack you eat standing in the sun, juices dripping down your hand. What struck me most was how simple it was—just fruit, a little spice, and yet completely satisfying. Research shows that even small swaps, like choosing fresh fruit with a twist over packaged sweets, can help reduce spikes in blood sugar and support heart health in the long run. Next time you’re craving a snack, try slicing up whatever fruit you have at home, add a squeeze of citrus and a touch of chilli or salt. You might be surprised how quickly it becomes your go-to. lesson learned.
